I got the word yesterday from his wife Pati - LB Neal (just Neal to his friends) - passed away after a long bout with cancer. I grieve because he was a friend…to me, and to CHCH.
Neal worked behind the scenes here at CHCH, troubleshooting and doing a lot of technical work. He did it all pro bono, even though he was busy publishing his own websites like American Daily. I don’t know where he found the time. Shortly before he was diagnosed with cancer, he moved CHCH to his server at a time when I was struggling with some personal/family issues. CHCH was dormant but the files were preserved while I sorted things out. Neal was like that - generous with his time and expertise. More than that he was just a great human being with an indomitable spirit.
He will be missed sorely, and especially by Pati - and I would ask CHCH readers to please include her in your prayers. She’s a very nice lady who has been through a lot over the past few months.
Neal has a special place in my heart, and although with his passing the world seems a little colder and a little emptier today, I know that when I start to remember all the great talks we had about politics, websites and life in general, I’ll be able to smile the smile that can only come from the memories of a good friend.
